secondary indexes

Andy leu

hi:

I ran the code as shown in http://docs.basho.com/riak/kv/2.2.0/developing/getting-started/python/querying/.

when I tried the lines about secondary index :

october_orders = order_bucket.get_index("order_date_bin",
                                        "2013-10-01", "2013-10-31")
october_orders.results

an exception was raised:

riak.riak_error.RiakError: '{error,{indexes_not_supported,riak_kv_bitcask_backend}}'

can anyone tell me why and how to fix it?

Thanks

Andrew

Re: secondary indexes

Hi,
Riak's secondary indexes require a sorted backend, either of the memory or leveldb backends will work, bitcask does not support secondary indexes.

Cheers

It depends on your use case. There are Riak users who have great success with secondary indexes for their use case, for others solr makes more sense. I personally disagree with the statement at the top of http://docs.basho.com/riak/kv/2.2.0/developing/usage/secondary-indexes/

Cheers
